Part-2 (of 2): Kerala Trip: Munnar | Thekkady | Alleppey

click  here  to read the first part of this story. ...The taxi driver knew only two words which we could understand. A 'Nahee' and an 'OK'. translate.google.com doesn't have an English to Malayalam translate option and we suffered a lot. Our first point was Rajamalai; but on the way we visited Blossom park. Blossom park was not very attractive. But what I felt was, if that was made as a tourism destination, then in Karnataka, the government could make many such tourism destinations.  It was already late when we reach Rajamalai, a big troop of students had come there and the queue was very big. We couldn't get the tickets. By that time, we came to know that all the tourism destination gates get closed by 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM. So, we couldn't visit any place that day. Guys were all frustrated. We had many pit-stops on the way back to our home stay at Adimali, went inside tea plantations and took many photos. Happy Christmas! Tips: Always know the timing

Kerala Trip: Munnar | Thekkady | Alleppey

"The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see" - says an author. Before starting our four days Kerala trip on 24th December 2013, I really didn't have a clear cut idea on what I was going to see. All I had planned was, 'okay I am going to Munnar, Thekkady and Alleppey'. The team was not big one. Karthik, another Karthik, Sunil, Pankaj, Vathsa and myself were the six guys who had packed their bags and started from Bangalore, in Royal Travels. Hence, wherever the word 'I' is used, anytime it can be replaced as 'we.' Background: Everyone of us wanted to have an year end trip. The places short listed were Andaman-Nikobar islands, Himalayas, North India (Rajasthan, Gujarath, Punjab) and Kerala. The place finally picked for this season was Kerala. Other places were added to the 'to be accomplished' list. All six people mentioned above were IT professionals at Bangalore. Year end casual leaves were meant for

Does 'she' need reservation?

“Pithaa rakshathi kaumarE bharthaa rakshathi yauvanE | puthrO rakshathi vaardhkyE na sthree swaathanthramarhathi || “ This is a good old Sanskrith sentence. It means, a girl will be brought up by her father during her childhood, cared by her husband at her young age. Her children will look after her at her old age. The last sentence and the most  misunderstood  sentence is the last quarter of the above shloka. It simply means: “Never let women live lonely. She has to be taken care of.” After all, what do you mean by reservation? A simple definition of ‘reservation’ is, creating a separate channel for the ‘weak’ people. Another question arises now. In which fields does ‘she’ is weaker than ‘he?’ May it be educational and political kind of ‘social’ fields; or it may also be righteous, religious or moral fields. Our culture has always given certain rights to women. In all our worshiping of gods, with her husband, there is a specific work for the her. (FYI, all the accompanying

Mega living!

"It is our own thought- true Indian thought." -This is what everyone utters after reading the fable- the monk who sold his ferrari." This is a late review of the book. Grass always shows greenery only on the other side! We will wake up only when someone else tells us a fable-our own story! There is nothing new in the book.Good old Indian thoughts have been put lucidly. A direct conversion of Sanskrit Shlokas' to English paragraphs. The thoughts really invoke -the person inside us-it's a true introspection. We have become so busy in our daily lives that we have forgotten the question itself while chasing question mark. We think of thousands of things around us; but not about ourselves. We are loosing ourselves. It is a good answer bank to all your questions and dilemma about our own capacity and power. These das, I was really reluctant to read any books. Especially novels. The main reason was my 'busy' life. This book gave me real tactics to liv

Am I really busy?

This is the mixture of a snippet from my personal dairy and the thoughts of "the person inside me". I had to quote this sheet from my dairy because I was dead in the blogosphere for quite a long time. Here it goes... Date: 5th September 2009. 6:00 A.M : Oh my god! It's already six A.M! I'm too tired! I don't know why I went for the trip with my classmates to Shimasha yesterday! I had hell lot of works being the hostel' student union secretary. Cha! I should be more wiser today... A bath, a prayer- that's all what I can do in half an hour. " Hey, Karthik... Where are you man? We have got class from 7:30 AM. Mad EC folks will attend classes like primary school kids... Six separate note books for six subjects. If I bunk, I will surely get shortage of attendance. Come on... Make up yourself soon...Let's ride your bike only... We will reach college soon" 7:35 A.M: "May I come in mam...? Class. Optical Fiber Communication. Is thi

Logic and common sense

Image
Logically speaking, 2+8=5+5. But, my common sense says that this is not true in many cases. -I'll prove it. You just need to have the common sense to criticise or think over it. There's a task to be completed in a day. There are two people to finish the task. Both of them have the same capacity to do it. They have to divide the responsibilities equally. If one does 20% of the task and the other does 80% , the result will be deviated from the required. So simple! There are many theorems proved so far. Most of them are just ideal and that is logic. Archimedes said- "give me space to stand 'beyond' this earth; I'll lift this whole earth in one hand!" Yeah, it's logically perfect. Does it make any practical sense? Common sense should always overtake the logic. What do you say?

Created one more blog

The idea of creating a blog for my classmates came to my mind when I had a lot of informations to be conveyed to my classmates and all my 100 free messages of a day got cleared! Being a link between the placement office and the classmates is the main reason for creating the blog. The new blog's address is: http://ece2010.blogspot.com.The new blog contains all the informations relevant to the placement activities of final year electronics and communication engineering students of SJCE Mysore, for the year 2009-10. It will be regularly updated as and when it's necessary. I hope all my friends will obtain its maximum profit and get placed!!! To check out the new blog, click here!
