Self discipline

Image
"How will be your behavior when you see that nobody is observing you? Will you still be following some rules? Will you still be having some manners? Then, you are a self disciplined gentleman. Such disciplines always lead us to success. Suppose that you are given a home work in your class. The teacher will tell you that she would be checking it the next day. You'll surely do the works given. On that same day,suppose if some other teacher will give the home work, and say, he won't warn you, he won't give any punishments. Will you do the work still? If you do, then you are the self-disciplined one. Whenever we think that somebody is observing us, we'll do the best out of us. That's why we say that god is observing all the things. When we are afraid of something, we can give the society the best. If you only are observing yourself, then no need to afraid, you will always be the best. Let's take this self-discipline aspect more seriously...!

|| SHABD ||-2008 ... A fantastic fest!

Day-1: You can't believe unless and otherwise you were there in SJCE -auditorium on 19th September 2008, at 4:30PM! The audi was filled by audiences who were witnessing curiously the inaugurals of "shabd"-08. Even the chief guest Dr.Shreenath of 'Dhwanyaloka' had got surprised to see such a huge number of students for the inaugurals of a literary fest, in a technical institute! The inaugural started at sharp 4:45PM. It was announced in '93.5 S FM' (one of our media partners) that there's a screening of the movie "DWEEPA" after the inaugurals, so many people outside college were calling and asking about it! We got unbelievable response for the movie show! Thanks to you guys! Day-2: It was the "event's day." There were competitions like English debate, Creative writing in kannada and English, painting, Kannada JAM(shall I call it as the 'event of the fest'???!!!), along with many informals like Mysore quizz, cr...

|| Shabd || --The inter college literary fest...

|| Shabd || --The inter college literary fest... I t was a beautiful idea of our Ed-board seniors, three years ago, to have an inter-college literary fest. In tecnical educational institutions, as you see, care for literary activity is very less. But it was in our SJCE , the principal and the staff gave amazing support to the fest, and because of this, it has seen a grand success in the past two years. This year we are organising the third year's || shabd || fest, on 19th, 20th and 21st of September, 2008. There'll be events both in Kannada and English, along with painting and photography. For each event, we'll be having resourceful judges. The vents are:- 1.SANSAD-English debate, 2.DUNDUBHI-Kannada debate, 3.MELTING THOUGHTS-English creative writing, 4.CHITTA BHITTI-Kannada CW, 5.DREAMING FINGERS-English poetry, 6.PADAGALANGALA-KAnnada poetry, 7.PUNKHANUPUNKHA-Kannada JAM, 8.CAPTURED FEELINGS-Photography, 9.STALL OF COLOURS-Painting, '10.BOOK SELLER'S QUESTION-E...

Is management an art? Or science?

Image
Is management an art? Or is it science? [It was the class room debate in the “Entrepreneurship and Management” class, and this was my argument saying that, “management is an art.”] For the time being, you forget the term ‘management’. Consider this nature. What do you call this nature as? As an art? Or is it science? We say that, this nature is a beautiful art; it’s a great gift to us by god. We compare this to a great painter’s great painting. But what this nature is actually made up of? It’s nothing other than all those chemical reactions such as, condensation, evaporation, deformation, sedimentation, etc. This is nothing but science. Still, nature is an art. In the same way, “management” ‘IS’ an art; but it has ‘science’. We can define art as, ‘production of something beautiful’ and science as, ‘part of the knowledge which are studied in the systematic way’. Then, what is management? When it was asked to a famous management guru, he told us to join the following 9 points with the he...

We and our TV channels...

Image
Imagine a TV channel. What comes to your mind?Of course, the breaking news, the reality shows, the serials which have finished thousands of episodes and mainly, the advertisements! Is this what TV channels are really meant for? Or if I ask my mom to imagine a channel, she would certainly tell about good many films, the news or the informative videos -which she has watched out in the earlier times. Why this drastic change? Some of the TV channels today seem very eager to put their cameras only in front of crimes! Breaking news has no longer informative, instead it's been considered as the "break-less news."Nobody has faith in those. Moreover, you'll get the "breaking news" only of some "hot fields." As per a survey, 30% of the today's TV shows are "reality- shows", whichever the channel it may be. By the end of the year 2010, it will be 70% ...!!! My question is, are those shows really "reality shows"? Can you say th...

"Books versus the internet"

Image
My mom always complains to the neighbors that I spend more time in front of the PC, in particular the internet, instead of the books.Of course I am. I know most of my friends will be facing such comments. But why?What has made us to get so much interest about internet, rather than books? The answer is that, visual effects affect us a lot:). The internet gives you much better visual effects than books. Most of us feel "bored" while reading the books. But when you get bored while browsing, you will jump to another interesting link. As far as entertainment is concerned, internet stands in first rank(which most of us want). Books can just tell you how to get the entertainment or sometimes, you only should treat "reading" as entertainment. Importantly, browsing directly affects our brain and nerve system in a worse manner. That's where books will lead. Books give your mind calm and peace.So some find reading the books as a better option at free time, rath...
