Road trip to Melukote

"Yentha macha, always busy-busy-busy...?" Praveen speaking restlessly at the other end of the phone.
I never wanted to be called as a 'busy' guy. " Alright then, I'll come with you this time" - I told.

---------------------------------------------------------

Melukote is at a distance of 50 kms from Mysore. We six boys- me, Praveen, Sharan, Lakshmeesh, Keshav and Abhi- started from Mysore, in three bikes by 1:30pm, after the lunch. 'We have one more week for the first internals' -I thought. So, the 'theme' of our trip was just time pass!

On the way, we visited "Thonnur lake" - a must see place, at a distance of 40 kms from Mysore. You have to take a left diversion at Srirangapatna, in the Mysore-Bangalore road. Crossing Panadavapura- a small village you will get this lake. The lake is very large, in which swimming is allowed. We enjoyed a lot there.

" I think our eyes are the best camera to capture the scene" - Sharan nodded!
" Yeah dude... stop your philosophy. All the clouds are gathering. Lets move again towards Melukote" - Keshav replied!
I'll tell you, the greenery in between the rocks is really awesome there. It's a calm place, a good outing place during weekends -I can say.

Soon we left Thonnur lake, even the raining started. We didn't stop, as we had to get back to Mysore before 8pm. We enjoyed the next 10kms of the ride at rain!!!

First of all, we visited Cheluvanarayana Swamy Temple, which you get in the main road of Melukote. In the temple premises, you will get lot of people trying to sell you "Puliyogare's" -for which Melukote is very popular.

The next point we visited was "Raaya Gopura"(raya gopura), which got popularity like anything after the bollywood movie "Guru" got shooted over there. The place is just amazing!!! You can see even Thonnur lake, Yoganarasimhaswami temple from the gopura! Oh, forgot...! On the way to raya gopura, you can see the house of Pu.Thi. Na - a very famous Kannada poet!

At a distance of 2 kms from Raya Gopura, you will get Dhanushkoti. It's another 'just amazing' place! One can enjoy the sunset with the breezes.

If you go to Melukote, never miss the "Puliyogare" you get there. "waaw" -kind of food at the reasnable price. there are many houses, where you will get 'mind-blowing(?) Puliyogare's.
We even visited
Yoga-Narasimha Swamy Temple, which is the top most part of Melukote. The temple has two lakes "Kalyani" and "Pushkarini" by name.
The quality of Melukote people which makes them to differ from the people of any other tourism centre's people is that, everybody will tell you the 'history' of the visiting places, free of cost!

It was already 7:30 pm. "Hey, guys... let's get back to our bikes" -I told.
"Yentha macha, you are still not enjoying the trip?" -Praveen asked.

---------------------------------------------------------

It was 10:00pm when we reached Mysore.
"When and where shall we have the next trip...?" I asked.
Everyone was shocked to see my enthusiasm. Actually, I was the one with the least interest in trip and all. This time I was the first one to take the next trip topic!!!

-Thanks to Melukote!!!!
