Kumara Parvatha- a heaven on the earth...
Right from the day I finished my 3rd semester B.E examination, my friends started forcing me to come with them for a trekking. I was not so much 'psych' of trekking. So, I kept on neglecting the trekking idea. But when my friend told that the place decided is "KUMARA PARVATHA", I quickly agreed to come with them, because I'd heard a lot about its natural beauty!
Kumara parvatha, a hill near Kukke Subrahmanya- a very sacred place for Hindus- has its own history. It's the birth place of the sacred river Kumaradhara, which finally joins the Arabian sea.
The small stones which you'll see at the top of the hill are peculiar ones.
Our troop was consisting of 6 members. Me, my friends Sharan(S K), Praveen(P K), Lakshmeesh(L K),Keshavaram(K K), and Ganapathi maama. We left Kukke Subrahmanya in the early morning, by 6.30AM. To reach the top, we had to walk for almost 20kms...!!! Since everyone had unbelievable zeal, trekking seemed us to be very silly.
First we had to walk inside a deep forest.Well, it was amazing that we had crossed first three kms in 45 minutes! I'd calculated that we'll reach the top by 2:00PM!!! Then onwards started the slow motion of our troupe!!! Standing, stopping, sleeping under the trees, etc,etc...It was too slow, right after we crossed the deep forest!
There comes an awesome spot "hannondu"- where you can see eleven horrible turns.Once you cross this, then you will no longer be inside a forest. Bare, thundering nature. Only the whispering hills will be your companions.
No need to worry about the lunch. There is a house on the way, called "Hosa gadde Joyisa's house". One should appreciate the resident's patience, to stay there. There you will get nice food provided you should inform them in advance.
Then comes the heavenly "MANTAPA", exactly in the mid-way from Kukke subrahmanya to Kumara Parvatha. There you'll see a Stage,(mantapa)therefore the name. After a small break(A small nap also!!) we again started toward the hill top.
The very small-small stones(and rarely the bigger one's)on the way kill you like anything. Unless and otherwise you take extra care, surely your nut&bolts will get damaged. The "Mari- Gundi" on the left side shows you a nice view if Sampaje ghats.
It was sharp 6:00pm when we reached the top of Kumara Parvatha. We enjoyed the sun-set a lot. We stayed the night in the Jungle there, camp firing, enjoying. By the early morning the next day, we left the hill, half-willing, half tired!!!
Iyt was 1:00pm when we reached Kukke Subrahmanya again.
why late? You also just go there and enjoy. Happy journey...!!!
